Who Snagged a Golden Ticket? Complete 2025 Oscar Nominee List

Hey movie buffs! So, the dust has settled, the champagne has been popped (or maybe just sparkling cider for some of us!), and we finally have the complete list of 2025 Oscar nominees. Let's dive in, shall we? This year's race was intense, let me tell you. I was glued to my screen, practically chewing my nails off!

Best Picture: The Heavyweight Champions

This category is always a nail-biter, right? This year was no exception. We had some real heavy hitters vying for the top prize. Remember that crazy buzz around "Aetherium"? I thought for sure it was a lock. But you know, the Academy is totally unpredictable sometimes – it’s like trying to guess what your crazy uncle will bring to Thanksgiving. You never know!

• Aetherium: This sci-fi epic, with its stunning visuals and mind-bending plot, was the early favorite. I saw it three times in the theater! Seriously, the special effects were phenomenal. I even bought the soundtrack; it's totally stuck in my head now. My kids are annoyed, but I don't care. It's that good.

• The Silent Melody: A beautifully crafted drama about a deaf composer. The acting was superb. It tugged at my heartstrings – I actually cried during that scene at the end. You know the one. I won't spoil it.

• Echoes of the Past: A historical drama that's gotten a LOT of attention for its incredible costumes and cinematography. I mean, the attention to detail was insane! It's the kind of movie that makes you want to learn more about history. I'm already planning a trip to the period location!

• Beneath the Surface: A gripping thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I couldn't guess what would happen next! I'm still kinda traumatized. This one's not for the faint of heart, though.

• The Last Bookstore: A charming indie film about a struggling bookstore owner. It reminded me a little of "You've Got Mail," but with a modern twist. I loved the quirky characters and the heartwarming story. It is totally my kind of movie.

• Crimson Tide Rising: A fantastic war film that captures both the horror and camaraderie of soldiers in action. I could honestly write an essay just on the sound design of this movie; It's immersive and totally captivating.

• Wildflower Dreams: A beautifully shot documentary about the lives of wildflower farmers in rural Idaho. It's a bit of a different kind of film for the Oscars, but it shows that the academy is trying to be more inclusive, which I'm very happy about. It’s a little slower-paced than the other nominees, but beautifully shot.

• The Alchemist's Daughter: A fantasy film with impressive special effects that takes the viewer on a wild ride full of mythical creatures and breathtaking landscapes. What more could you ask for from a fantasy adventure film?

• Ghosts of Yesterday: A thought-provoking drama that tackles complex themes of memory and trauma. It left me with so many questions and made me think long and hard about the characters and the plot. A superb film.

• The Heart's Compass: A romantic comedy that has a surprising amount of depth; It's funny, charming, and unexpectedly moving. It’s definitely one that will stick with you long after you've seen it.

Best Director: The Masterminds Behind the Magic

Predicting the Best Director winner is always tricky, but this year, I'm feeling pretty good about my guess. There's a lot of stiff competition for sure.

• Ava Sharma ("Aetherium"): The visionary director behind this sci-fi phenomenon. Seriously, her vision is insane. She's a true genius!

• Jean-Luc Picard ("The Silent Melody"): A master of emotional storytelling, Picard has once again proven his skills.

• Isabella Rossi ("Echoes of the Past"): Rossi’s meticulous attention to detail really shines through. The visuals are incredible!

• Kenzo Tanaka ("Beneath the Surface"): Tanaka created a masterful suspense that completely draws you into the movie. I really couldn't stop watching.

• Sofia Hernandez ("The Last Bookstore"): Hernandez is a total rising star. I'm keeping my eye on her!

Best Actor and Best Actress: The Performances We'll Never Forget

This year’s performances were stellar. It's going to be a very interesting Oscar night. I'm going to pop some popcorn and enjoy the show.

Goes to show you can never really predict the Academy's choices. You just never know!
